Dorset to Donetsk is an initiative started by Dorset native Eddy in response to the full scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia on 24th February 2022. D2D is a community of volunteers who provide front line support and aid to civilians and soldiers in the East of the country.
The volunteer logistic network is a huge, and often overlooked, part of the war effort. A constant stream of supplies flows from all over the world, to the border in the West, all the way to the zero line in the East. Teams of Ukrainian and foreign volunteers ensure these supplies go where they are needed most, often to areas experiencing heavy fighting.
Being a small, independent group, we are able to operate with a high degree of flexibility and competency, allowing us to make deliveries to front line settlements such as Bakhmut, Chasiv Yar, and Ocheretyne, where we have provided hundreds of people with vital aid and supplies.
Our work is completely self funded. Donations and personal savings cover the majority of costs, however we can always do more with more. Everything goes towards the mission; either by covering expenses such as fuel, vehicle maintenance, and general living costs, or going towards purchasing vital kit and equipment for our friends at the front.
The war in Ukraine is at a critical juncture. The battlefield is constantly changing, and Russia is refusing to back down despite persistent failures. On top of it all, recent attacks on civilian infrastructure have shown the depths to which Putin will sink. Now more than ever support for Ukraine is so important. Not just financial support, but also raising awareness for those on the ground, and ensuring that the truth is told.
We are supporting a nation defending itself from a terrorist state, and we cannot do it without your help.
